ExperienceI have been tutoring and assisting my fellow students since I was in high school. This experience has helped me learn how t best aid others, and I want to use my experience to help local students reach their potential. Most recently I held a 3.91 semester GPA out of a possible 4.0 at SUNY Oneonta, graduated with departmental honors from Oneonta, and I was an honors graduate at Jefferson Community College, as well as an honors graduate at Indian River High School in 2009. I am proficient in many liberal arts courses including English/Writing, History/Social Studies, Political Science/Government, Music, Sociology, and Public Speaking. I have taken multiple courses in these subjects with strong results. I also have experience competing at the local, state, and national level for speech and debate so I am well equipped to help you conquer your fear of public speaking! In 2008 I was chosen, along with a very select group of other high school students around the world, to participate in the People to People Future Leaders Summit on Law. I participated in the Future Leaders Law program where I spent several weeks in Washington D.C. learning about our legal system and government and culminating in a mock trial of a real legal case which we argued in courtrooms at the Supreme Court Building. People to People not only taught me about our legal system, but it made me proficient in knowing how to teach study skills, as well as how to formally structure arguments. The experience also greatly improved my writing skills, and such skills are necessary to do well both in high school and college but in life so please allow me to help you improve your skills! I have been lucky to learn as much as I have and I truly want to bring my knowledge and expertise to you, to help you improve your academic standing, grades, and skills! Finally, I also have experience working with young children as well as older ones and I truly enjoy working with children of all ages! I know how to approach subjects with younger children and I can also approach subjects with older ones. I get to know each person I help so I can develop and use the best method possible to help them learn and understand best! Other than the contact button on this site feel free to contact me at: firstname.lastname@example.org All messages to this address go straight to my cell and I will respond within an hour on average.
HobbiesI love helping others in their academic pursuits, but I also like other things. I love to read, watch a movie, and just hang out with friends. I am a laid back, patient, and easy to get along with. My priority though is to help others succeed academically, but I believe in doing so in a positive, nurturing environment so the student feels comfortable and laid back which will allow them to learn more than they would if they felt uncomfortable with a tutor. I break things down in terms the student can understand, and then use those terms to help the student understand the concept and the more difficult terms associated with it.
