Experience
I have taught English Composition at the University at Buffalo (SUNY) for the last seven years, and have also been an instructor in the universities Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) for the last two summer sessions. In additions, I have presented numerous academic papers at conferences and symposia both in the US and Canada. Each semester I usually teach two sections of Composition 101 or 201, which focus on academic writing, genre, research, drafting, and the process of writing a research paper. In addition, individual grammar and writing issues are dealt with through the course of the semester. My Composition 201 class is usually based on a contemporary cultural issue, and culminates with a final paper on a 'cultural artifact' (a film, book, play, music album or genre) that the student will research, formulate a thesis, and draft a 10-page final paper. I find it to be of the utmost importance for students to realize that writing is not something that is completed in a single sitting. Rather, it is something that unfolds through a process; one in which the author he/herself develops as a writer through thinking, drafting, and reflection.

Hobbies
I am currently a PhD candidate who is writing a dissertation on Victorian literature. Needless to say, much of my time is taken up with reading and writing. However, I have been a life-long fan of cinema, so when I am not at a cafe reading, or behind my desk writing, I do watch my fair share of movies from week to week.
